DEIB: Navigating Conversations-Preventing Flashpoints-May 2

As a school administrator, there are two very important aspects of your life which require continual attention: The honing of your professional/technical skills to assist in the running of your school district and optimum success in your personal life.

NJASA is committed to the self-development of our members to achieve the goals of professional and personal development.  Your Association also understands that the foundation of professional development is a self-directed and self-driven process designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and values of administrators, along with a formal recognition of achievement.

To that end, NJASA has designed a comprehensive professional development One-Day Seminar Program.  Workshops addressing various important topics will be offered virtually, via Zoom, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon on eight different dates during the school year.  Please be sure to click the "add" button next to your registration option and allow the item to populate into your itinerary.

The eighth seminar in this series will be Tuesday, May 2nd: DEIB: Navigating Divisive Conversations - Preventing District Flashpoints.  Here is the Agenda for this meeting:

9:15 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - The meeting will open; registrants will be admitted into the waiting room.

9:30 a.m. - 9:35 a.m. - Program Overview - Zoom Protocols - Introductions

9:35 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - Navigating Divisive Conversations - Preventing District Flashpoints.  Presenter: Margaret Sullivan, Associate Director, Research Advisory Services, EAB.  District leaders are spending a great deal of time combatting political and social flashpoints at a time when student outcomes and morale are at all-time lows.  Most districts haven't changed their response processes, when the flashpoints of today are entirely different - namely, they are multi-faceted and comprised of factors that regularly go unaddressed.  This presentation will support and show district leaders how to quickly deconstruct a complex flashpoint into simple parts and then deploy appropriate strategies accordingly.  Come listen and learn what is happening and gain a greater understanding of pitfalls to avoid and when to make needed adjustments that will support and assist you and your district.

11:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. - Question/Answer Period

NJASA members may register for and participate in these seminars at no cost.  Non-members may register and participate at the cost of $145.00 per person.
